The Nerikomi Benches were created for the exhibition Benediction at Friends Art Space. They are made from scrap plywood that we saved from our neighbors who make cabinets. The plywood was stack laminated into a large block then sculpted into an organic functional shape that reveals the striations created by the layers of the plywood. The Bench is comprised of two pieces that are interchangeable; when mated they create a solid surface to sit on, when separated they are functionless.
Designed and completed by Trey Jones in 2023 for Friends Art Space
Materials: scrap plywood, dye, UV sealer
Dimensions: L 42” x D 14” x H 16.5”
